... The ground shook as the rocket hit in the middle of the road about ten minutes down the street from the office. Yes, those rockets that look small when police extract them from the road or the rubble and have people asking, what is the big deal when the rockets rarely score a hit, make the earth shake even several miles away from the landing site.

On Wednesday, April 9, British politician and Labour Party Member of Parliament for South Thanet, Dr. Stephen Ladyman, toured Sderot with SMC's director, Noam Bedein. The Labor MP visited the Sderot Qassam gallery at the Sderot Police Station where hundreds of rockets are stored away. Dr. Ladyman also visited a buffered elementary school.

Members of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), a program of the World Council of Churches, based in Geneva, visited Sderot this past Sunday, March 30.

"This is our first visit to Sderot," said Valentina Maggiulli, the Jerusalem local program coordinator for EAPPI. "We know the situation in the West Bank and Gaza very well. We felt it was important to see the situation in Sderot as well."

Last week, a group of 40 American tourists, from Michigan, Detroit, California and Florida, came to visit Sderot. It was their first time in Sderot, and probably the first time that any one of them had visited a rocket-shelled region. The group was pretty cheerful though, although several expressed their fear of actually being in the city.
